OLONGAPO CITY — Zambales fishermen found another kilometer-long dredge floater assembly about 16 kilometers away from Iba, Zambales on Friday night.
Efren Medrano, chair of the Lanao-Bangan Fishermen’s Association, said that fishermen from Sto. Rosario village in Iba began towing the floaters to shore on Saturday morning.
It may take them until Sunday to fully draw it to the shore, he said.
The first sets of floaters — spanning 1,000 meters long — were spotted drifting 3 nautical miles from Cabangan, Zambales on July 24.
The objects bore Chinese markings.

Fishermen tried to dismantle the floaters to sell them as scraps but were stopped by Zambales officials, who had taken the floaters into custody for their possible use as evidence against alleged Chinese intrusion into the West Philippine Sea. JE
