Cebuano karter to represent country in ROK int’l race

CEBUANO karting sensation Jette Calderon will be showcasing his talents on the international stage as he represents the country in the 2011 ROK Cup International Final slated Oct. 13 at the South Garda Karting circuit in Lonato, Italy.

The 14-year-old multi-awarded racer will not be alone in his quest to achieve pride and glory for the country as he will be joined by another Franco Reyes, who is based in Manila.

The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu student is expected to encounter some tough resistance in the field as he will be competing against the best karters from all over the world.

Some 54 drivers from four continents have managed to qualify for the prestigious event.

Calderon has won the Karter of the Year award in addition to his success in the 2011 Petron Karting Series. He has also been awarded by the Sportswriters Association of Cebu for two straight years and has also received accolades from the Automotive Association of the Philippines (AAP) and the Golden Wheel organization.   /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
