THE Senate blue ribbon subcommittee will mark on August 20, 2015 its yearlong investigation on corruption allegations against Vice President Jejomar Binay and his family, its chairman, Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III said on Tuesday.
“Sa [August] 20, I’ll try to accommodate the request to celebrate our one year anniversary. Kinikilig ako sa one year anniversary (I’m excited with our one year anniversary),” Pimentel said in jest in an interview at the Senate.
“Yung hearing sa 20 symbolic yun dahil one year anniversary. Bihira na lang ang nagse-celebrate ng anniversary ngayong panahon,” he added.
(The hearing on August 20 is symbolic because that’s our one year anniversary. Only few celebrates anniversary nowadays.)
Turning serious, Pimentel said he hopes that the hearings would soon be over. He said he would ask Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to wrap up the investigation. Trillanes was the one who initiated the Senate probe against Binay.
Trillanes himself admitted that the investigation was becoming tiresome.
“Ang sa amin dito, pag na-exhaust na natin, wala nang issue na palagay nating karapat-dapat malaman ng taumbayan then hihinto na kami,” he said in a separate interview.
(When we exhaust all the issues that we think the people deserve to know, then we will stop [our investigation] here.)
“Hindi natin ito pino-prolong unnecessarily kasi medyo nakakapagod na rin. It’s taking up so much of our time (We’re not prolonging this unnecessarily because it’s also tedious),” he added.
But before wrapping up the Senate probe, Trillanes said they have two more exposés against Binay when the subcommittee resumes its hearings.

“Merong malaking exposé, bago na issue na ilalabas namin sa August 20 and 26. Abangan natin medyo maganda yun (There’s a big exposé, a new issue that we will expose on August 20 and 26),” he said.
Trillanes said they would present more documents, which he said they gathered after Binay’s son, Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, was suspended by the Ombudsman over the allegedly overpriced Makati City Hall 2 parking building.
“Halos lahat ng transaction dun questionable kaya nga ngayon lumalabas (Almost all transactions there are questionable that’s why it’s all coming out now),” he said.
