71-year-old widow shot dead outside church
A 71-year-old woman on her way home after hearing Mass was shot and killed by a still unidentified man in Manila on Saturday night.
Nora Eubanas died of two gunshot wounds in the head after she was shot at 6:45 p.m. in front of Malate Church. The widow was with her grandson Mikhael and sister-in-law Adella Chuanico when the shooting took place.
Case investigator SPO2 Jonathan Bautista said that the three were seated inside a car and waiting for the vehicle in front of them to maneuver out of the church parking lot when a man appeared and fired at the victim twice.
Eubanas was in the front passenger seat and seated beside Mikhael who was driving. He was also hit but he still managed to drive and bring his grandmother to the Philippine General Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Chuanico, on the other hand, was unhurt.
Bautista said they have yet to establish a motive for the killing of the victim, a restaurant owner, as her family requested for privacy to mourn her passing.
He added that they were still trying to identify the shooter who ran on foot toward Remedios Street.
