Undecided Marcos on running with Binay: It’s another possibility
Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said he is still undecided about the 2016 elections but did not rule out the possibility of running with Vice President Jejomar Binay.
“I remain the undecided candidate. There’s no need for any rush into this kind of decision,” Marcos said during a weekly forum at the Senate on Wednesday.
“As you can imagine, this is probably the biggest, most important decision I will have to make so far in my life, so I’m not going to rush it… without as much as understanding the situation as possible,” he said.
Binay himself said that Marcos was among those being considered to be his running mate in 2016.

But asked if a Binay-Marcos is a good tandem, the senator said: “Well, it’s another possibility. How it will play out, mahirap basahin (that’s hard to tell).”
Asked again if a Binay-Marcos was a viable tandem, Marcos said: “Bakit hindi? Lahat naman yan viable eh. They are all, as I said, lahat yan possibilities; kaya nga pinag-uusapan, kaya nga pinag-iisipan dahil maaring mangyari.”
(Why not? Everything is viable. As I said, these are all possibilities; that’s why there are discussions, that’s why we’re thinking about it because that can happen)
The senator made it clear, though, that the discussions about next year’s elections were not just confined with the Binay camp as there were also “scenario buildings” with other groups like Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who is also reportedly eyeing the presidency in 2016.
Marcos promised to immediately announce to the public once he reaches a decision whether or not to run for a higher post next year or just seek another term in the Senate.
“Running for national office is not something once you’ve decided to do it, you don’t keep it secret. Yung una mong gagawin, mag a-announce ka… dahil hindi mo naman itatago yan. Paano ka naman mangangampaya kung patago. Wala namang kampanya na patago,” he said.
(Running for national office is not something once you’ve decided to do it, you don’t keep it secret. The first thing you will do is to announce it… you will not keep it secret. How can you campaign if you’re hiding it? There’s no such thing as secret campaigning)
“So once there’s something that I can tell, believe me, I will immediately announce it because people have to immediately know as early as possible what you’re doing. If I could have announced this six months ago, I would have; siyempre, kailangan mo yung oras, mangangampanya ka nga eh (of course you need time because you have to campaign),” the senator added.
