Aquino appoints Ducut’s replacement at ERC
President Benigno Aquino III has appointed Vicente Salazar to replace Zenaida Cruz-Ducut as chair of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. on Tuesday evening said Aquino signed Salazar’s appointment papers on July 31.
His term will end on July 10, 2022.
“Prior to his appointment, Mr. Salazar served as undersecretary in charge on energy matters from 2007 to 2013 and as chairperson of the Department of Energy-Department of Justice task force on the Downstream Oil Industry Deregulation Act of 1998 during the same period. He was also a former board member of the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp.,” Coloma said.
The 45-year old official received an electrical engineering degree from University of the Philippines and earned his juris doctor at Ateneo de Manila University.
He attended Harvard University to pursue graduate studies in public administration.
