LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – The deputy provincial police director of Camarines Sur was wounded and a civilian companion was killed in an ambush Sunday night in the town of Bato, also in Camarines Sur.

A sketchy report reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) regional headquarters in this city said Superintendent Romeo L. Pillonar was in a vehicle with several other persons when they were waylaid along the highway in Barangay (village) Buluang at about 6:25 p.m.
