Joel Villanueva interested to run for senator in 2016

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) Secretary Joel Villanueva on Monday said he is interested to run for senator in the 2016 elections.

“Hindi ko naman po itinatago na tayo ay interesado doon (I am not hiding it that I am interested),” Villanueva told reporters at the House of Representatives Monday.

But Villanueva said he has not yet decided with finality.

“We still have enough time to decide on it,” he said.

He said the endorsement of President Benigno Aquino III would be important, adding that he would also consider his family’s decision.

“It has a privilege to work at Tesda with the transformational and inspirational leadership of the President,” he said.

Asked whether he should resign from his post due to his senatorial ambitions, he said, “we should not deny our people of great service.”

Villanueva has been commended by Aquino in his past State of the Nation Address for his works at Tesda.
