LPA to bring rains in northern Luzon

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains are forecast over parts of northern Luzon, the state weather bureau said Friday.

weatherThe low pressure area (LPA) causing the rains in the northern section was last spotted 130 kilometers northeast of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Goring (Halola), the typhoon not expected to affect the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) was last observed 1,235 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.

It packed maximum sustained winds of 145 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 180 kph.

It continues to move west at 15 kph.

The typhoon is expected to exit PAR in the afternoon.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms is expected over the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao and Ilocos Norte and the islands of Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan, Pagasa said.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to southeast will prevail over northern and central Luzon.

The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. KS
