Binay: Aquino gov’t using savings to ‘bribe politicians’

Vice President Jejomar Binay on Wednesday accused the Aquino administration of allegedly using its savings to bribe politicians, threaten the judiciary and to destroy the reputation of its political rivals.
Binay, in a speech during the celebration of the 200th Birth Anniversary of Hermano Pule in Tayabas City, Quezon province noted how the Aquino government boasted its judicious use of funds, which resulted in huge savings in the first year of the administration.
“Ngunit saan napunta ang perang itinipid nila? Hindi po ba ginamit sa panunuhol ng mga pulitiko, sa pananakot sa hukuman, sa paninira at pagpatatalsik sa mga kalaban nila sa pulitika, at sa paggawa ng mga proyekto ng mga paboritong pulitiko?” he said.
(But where did the savings go? Didn’t they use it to bribe politicians, to threaten the judiciary, to destroy and oust its political rivals and to fund the projects of their favored politicians?)
“Sa halip na gamitin ang pondong nakalaan sana sa pagpagawa ng mga imprastruktura, sa pagtulong sa mga biktima ng mga kalamidad, sa pagpagawa ng mga eskwelahan, mga ospital o kahit Rural Health Units, sa pagbibigay ng iba pang serbisyong panlipunan, nilustay ang pera ng bayan sa pamumulitika, pagpapalaki ng pondo ng nakapangyayaring partido at tahasang paglabag sa ating Saligang Batas,” he said.
(Instead of using the funds intended for infrastructures, help the victims of calamities, build schools, hospitals or even rural health units, provide public services, they used the government’s money for politics, to raise the funds of their party, and blatantly violate the Constitution)
Binay also lamented how the poor have been taken for granted by this administration, since, he said, many of its officials have never experienced poverty in the first place.
“Marami sa kanila ay galing sa angkang mayaman, kaya hindi nila gaanong naiintindihan ang mga pangarap ng mahihirap na lalong naghihirap sa kanilang matatamis na salita at pagmamalabis. Nagmamalinis at nagpapanggap silang mahirap ngunit ni minsan ay hindi sila dumanas ng kahirapan,” he said.
“Mahal daw nila ang mga Pilipino kaya nais nilang ipagpatuloy ang kanilang manhid at palpak na pamumuno. Mahal daw nila ang mga Pilipino kaya ngayon pa lang ay isinusulong nila na mamuno sa bansa ang taong minsan ay tinalikuran at tinakwil ang pagka-Pilipino. Tamang pagmamahal ba ito sa bayan?”
(They supposedly love Filipinos so they continue to implement their insensitive and inutile leadership. They supposedly love the Filipinos so they keep on forcing into leadership a person who once renounced her being Filipino. Is this the right kind of love for the country?)

“Sila po ang mga sumumpa sa ibang bansa na sa pagdating ng panahon na kailangang labanan ang Inang Bayang Pilipinas ay lalabanan nila,” the Vice President added.
(They are the ones who vowed in another country that if the time comes that they need to fight the Philippines, they would do so.)
Asked in an interview later if he was referring to Senator Grace Poe, Binay said: “Bahala na kayo mag-isip ‘nun.”

“Basta’t talagang, nabasa niyo na ba? Nabasa niyo na ba ‘yung oath of allegiance ng isang naturalized citizen? Nakalagay doon to the point of taking arms,” he added.

JV Bautista, interim secretary general of Binay’s United Nationalist Alliance, earlier said that Poe should be disqualified from running for president in 2016 and could even be unseated as a member of the Senate for allegedly not being a “natural-born Filipino”.
