Defective train door forces MRT passengers to walk on rails

Metro Rail Transit (MRT 3) passengers were forced to walk on rails Wednesday morning after a northbound train suffered a door malfunction and stalled between stations.

The train stopped between the Shaw Boulevard and Ortigas stations at about 7 a.m. and left passengers having to alight and walk back to Shaw Boulevard.

MRT General Manager Ramon Buenafe was quoted in a radio report saying that one of the train doors suddenly opened.

Buenafe said the incident stalled MRT operations for 33 minutes and resulted in longer lines in other stations.

The MRT control center said train operations resumed at about 7:30 a.m. AJH
