A traffic enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) was allegedly mauled by a motorist whom he accosted for a traffic violation in Parañaque City early Monday morning.

MMDA traffic enforcer Rodevic Amante identified his alleged attacker as Mark Gil Vizcarra, 28, a resident of Lapu-Lapu Street in Barangay Baclaran, who said that he was a confidential military agent.

Amante also claimed he was roughed up by Vizcarra’s three companions—Virgilio Vizcarra, Anacleto San Diego and Rigor Mojico.

The Vizcarras and San Diego were charged with assault upon an agent or person of authority at the Parañaque Prosecutor’s Office. Mojico, on the other hand, was not included in the complaint after he was rushed to San Juan de Dios Hospital for an injury allegedly inflicted by an unidentified companion of Amante.

Investigation showed that the mauling happened at around 6:30 a.m. on Monday on East Service Road, Roxas Boulevard in Barangay Baclaran.

Amante said he was manning traffic in the East Service Road area on Roxas Boulevard, Barangay Baclaran when he saw a gray Toyota Innova make a U-turn, ignoring a  No U-turn sign at the corner of Airport Road.

He added that he immediately flagged down the vehicle and asked the driver, who he claimed smelled of liquor, for his license.

But instead of his license, Mark Gil Vizcarra reportedly presented an identification card of  the Military Intelligence Group which indicated he was  a confidential agent.

Amante said that after he insisted on seeing his license, Mark Gil Vizcarra complied, although the latter later alighted from his car and punched him twice in the face.

He added that when he tried to run, Vizcarra’s companions stopped him and even aided Vizcarra in beating him up.

They only stopped when policemen arrived in the area and arrested them, he said.
