“The senators and Roxas allies have accepted the lies as gospel truth, simply because they are anti-Binay from the start.”
This is the statement of the camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay following the Stop-Binay rally at Ayala Avenue in Makati City on Tuesday.
The protesters led by musician Jim Paredes called on the Vice President to drop his presidential bid in the 2016 elections.
In a statement, vice presidential spokesperson Joey Salgado said the protesters “do not seem to have a tolerance for the fact that Vice President Binay continues to enjoy the trust of the ordinary working people despite the efforts of Roxas supporters like Mr. Paredes and other elitists to bring him down.”
Despite Binay’s nonappearance in the Senate hearings on corruption allegations against him, Salgado said the Vice President had already addressed the accusations hurled against him through the media and public forums.
“After 23 hearings, no concrete evidence has been offered to prove the allegations against the Vice President,” Salgadosaid. “Mahirap magpaliwanag sa ayaw makinig.”
The Stop-Binay group staged a similar rally in June which gathered thousands of supporters from different sectors, exceeding their initial goal of 200 people.
