Binay told: Answer graft raps first before acting like underdog
A PALACE official dared the camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay to “get their act together” before it plays the part of an underdog.
At a press briefing, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda slammed Binay for trying to act like an underdog but also reportedly “maltreated” policemen during the standoff in the Makati City Hall.
“With all due respect: Can they get their act together? On one hand, they want to say ‘inaapi kami,’ ‘hindi ako tinatrato nang maayos.’ On the other hand, we see him maltreating the policeman in the Makati City Hall…which is which?” Lacierda said.
Binay reportedly cuffed and threw invectives at policemen deployed at the Makati City hall when his son, Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay, refused to abide by the suspension order slapped against him by the Ombudsman.
The older Binay also had a confrontation with Senior Superintendent Elmer Jamias, the ground commander of the police officers stationed at the Makati City Hall grounds.
The Palace official said that before Binay cries wolf, he should make sure that he has responded to the corruption charges against him.
“Sa tingin ko, tingnan nila ‘yung kalagayan ni Vice President dahil — is he able to answer the allegations of corruption against him? Has he answered squarely all these accusations against him?” he added.
Lacierda said that the Palace would not remain silent when it is under attack by the Binay camp.
“We have deliberately not spoken on it. But don’t expect us to keep quiet while he attacks us incessantly, repeatedly,” the Palace spokesperson said.
After quitting his posts in the Aquino Cabinet in June, Binay went on an all-out offensive against the Aquino government, calling it “manhid” and “palpak” (insensitive and bumbling).
