Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim Sy Jacinto Henares was donned with the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
Newly appointed Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Lieutenant General Hernando Iriberri and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin led the donning ceremony at Camp Aguinaldo on Monday morning.
Henares was appointed as BIR Commissioner in 2010 after serving as the deputy commissioner under the previous administration.
The BIR chief is a gun shooter and collector.
Aside from Henares, Acting Executive Director of the Bureau of Immigration Eric Dimaculangan was also promoted to the rank of major from being an AFP reservist under the PAF Medical Administrative Corps.
The Army Reserve Command will assist the AFP in times of war and rebellion, help during disaster relief, and aid in the country’s socioeconomic development.
Reservist must be willing to serve the country when faced with a “national emergency.”
