While Typhoon “Falcon” (international name: Chan-hom) has already moved out of the Philippine area of responsibility early Friday, Metro Manila and parts of Luzon will continue to experience rains due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the state weather bureau said.

In its 11:00 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the “habagat” will bring moderate to heavy rains over the National Capital Region (NCR), Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.

Pagasa warned residents in these areas of possible flashfloods and landslides.

Western and Central Visayas and the rest of Luzon, meanwhile, will experience occasional monsoon rains.

At 12:05 p.m., Pagasa said light to moderate rains affecting portions of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, and Pampanga may continue for another hour.

The weather bureau also issued a thunderstorm advisory over Mariveles, Limay, Bagac, and Morong in Bataan, which may persist within the next two hours.

Thunderstorm in Zambales and the rest of Bataan is also expected within the next two hours, it added. Yuji Vincent Gonzales/IDL
