‘Falcon’ further intensifies, to exit PH Friday

Typhoon “Falcon” slightly intensified late Thursday, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour from 140 kph and gusts of up to 185 kph (from 170 kph).

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its weather bulletin issued 11 p.m. on Thursday said Falcon was about to exit the Philippine area of responsibility.

The typhoon, which brought monsoon rains to affected areas, was tracked 695 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, as of 10 p.m.

It was forecast to move northwestward at 22 kph, and exit the country by Friday evening.

Earlier on Thursday, Pagasa’s Esperanza Cayanan told a press briefing that heavy rain was expected between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Friday.
