The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has started looking for passenger buses that will exclusively ferry passengers to and from the airport.
In a memorandum circular issued last week, the LTFRB invited bus companies which might be interested in plying two airport routes, specifically from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) to the Roxas Boulevard area, including the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay and Entertainment City in Parañaque; and from Naia to the Makati Central Business District.
According to the LTFRB, each route will have no more than five designated off-street stops to ensure speedier travel time for passengers. The bus service will also be split into two: Those serving Naia Terminals 1 and 2 and the other serving Terminal 3 only.
The airport buses are targeted to run daily from 4 a.m. to midnight. To qualify, they should have a 24-passenger seating capacity. They must also be equipped with security cameras, Wi-Fi, an onboard automated bus arrival electronic display and a public announcement system. Drivers should also be paid regular salaries.
The LTFRB has suggested a bus fare of P300 per passenger.
Under the memorandum circular, interested applicants and corporations must submit their legal, technical and financial qualification documents to the transport board on or before Aug. 3.
