/ 03:04 PM June 23, 2015

SUPREME Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen has inhibited himself from all pending and future cases related to the Framework and Comprehensive Agreements on the Bangsamoro and the Bangsamoro Basic Law.

Leonen served as the chairman of the Government Negotiating Panel that sealed the Framework Agreement for the Bangsamoro (FAB).

The FAB, which was signed on Oct. 15, 2012, calls for the creation of an autonomous political entity to replace the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). It is the basis for the proposed BBL.

“Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen who was the Chair of the Government Negotiating Panel that negotiated the Framework Agreement for the Bangsamoro before being appointed to the Supreme Court has voluntarily inhibited himself from participation in the pending cases and any future cases involving the FAB, CAB and the BBL,” high court Information Chief Theodore Te said.
