2 NPA rebels killed, 5 soldiers hurt in encounter in Davao City
DAVAO CITY – Two alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed and five soldiers were wounded during a clash that took place in Paquibato district here Thursday, the military said Friday.
Capt. Alberto Caber, Eastern Mindanao Command spokesperson, said the wounded soldiers belonged to the 69th Infantry Battalion (69IB), and were on security patrol when they were fired upon by the rebels.
Lt. Col. Rodney Intal, 69th Infantry Battalion Commander, said that security patrol is part of the peace and development activities of the military forces in the area.
Caber said five other rebels were also wounded in the clash, the fourth in the area this week.
