Aquino satisfaction rating improves after all-time low – SWS

The satisfaction rating of President Benigno Aquino III increased by 10 percentage points to 57 percent this month (from 47 percent in March), the latest Social Weather Stations poll showed.

The survey, conducted from June 5 to 8 among 1,200 respondents, also showed that the number of dissatisfied Filipinos dropped to 27 percent (from 36 percent) while those undecided were at 15 percent (from 17 percent), resulting in a net satisfaction rating of a “good” +30.

This is a big improvement from the moderate +11 rating, considered an all-time low, the President received last March.

The survey was released more than a month before Aquino’s last State of the Nation Address.

The SWS poll, first published in BusinessWorld, showed that Mindanao gave Aquino the highest net satisfaction rating (+39), followed by Visayas (+35), and the rest of Luzon (+30). While ratings were “good” for the said region, net satisfaction for Aquino in the National Capital Region remained “neutral” at +8.

SWS classifies its net satisfaction scores as follows: +70 and above, “excellent;” +50 to +69, “very good;” +30 to +49, “good;” +10 to +29, “moderate;” +9 to -9, “neutral;” -10 to -29, “poor;” -30 to -49, “bad;” -50 to -69, “very bad;” -70 and below, “execrable.”

Among class ABC, Aquino’s net satisfaction recovered by 38 points to a “good” +44 (from +6 in March). Net satisfaction rose by 17 points (now +27, from +10) among class D and by 16 points (now +34, from +18) among class E.

Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said the President is “gratified” that the public “recognize the efforts of his administration to improve the delivery of public services and continue implementing vital reforms so that the fruits of good governance and may be sustained and made permanent.”

“We will intensify efforts to accelerate the development of public infrastructure, broaden social protection, and strengthen public institutions so that the ultimate objective of achieving long-term inclusive growth may be attained,” he said. IDL
