LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte, Philippines — An unidentified woman was found dead in the coastal village of Talingaan, near the sand dunes in this city, early Monday.

Crime scene investigator SPO4 Nilo Domingo said residents found the body at 6 a.m. at the back of a hut used by operators of off-road vehicles at the Laoag sand dunes.

Domingo said the woman was in her early 30s and had at least 20 stab wounds, mostly to the neck and chest.

Village official Benny Ruiz said the woman’s face was covered with a sack. Police found bills worth P250 in one of her pockets but did not find any identification cards.

Probers said the body could have been dumped in the area, citing tire marks from a tricycle near the spot where the victim was found.
