Prisoner escapes in woman’s clothes
KORONADAL CITY—Wearing a Muslim head gear and woman’s clothes, Khad Abubakar Langalen quietly mingled with visitors at the South Cotabato Provincial Rehabilitation and Detention Center on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old inmate from Tacurong City outsmarted jail guards and made a daring escape at past 1 p.m. during visiting hours at the facility, said Juan Lanzaderas, the acting provincial warden.
“One of the inmates noticed Langalen wearing a woman’s dress with his head covered with colored scarf,” Lanzaderas said. But the witness could not alert the guards because he was already summoned to prepare his documents and entertain his own visitors, he said.
The escape was discovered when the inmates were called to assemble for a head count in the middle of the facility.
Langalen was arrested in Polomolok, South Cotabato province, for drug pushing in 2012. He is facing violations of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2001.
He was the third inmate to bolted the provincial jail since October last year.
