With ordinary Filipinos complaining about the extreme summer heat, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. said he has gotten used to the scorching condition inside his detention facility.

“It’s really hot but I have nothing to complain. I am used to it,” Revilla said when asked about the temperature inside the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

The state weather bureau has said that the country, particularly Metro Manila and northern Luzon, is likely to experience a heat index of up to 40 degrees Celsius.

According to the PNP, only an electric fan is provided inside Revilla’s detention cell at the Custodial Center. No air-conditioning unit is allowed.

Revilla, who is set to mark his first year in jail this June, initially complained about the heat in his detention cell and the presence of rats and cockroaches.
