Free medical check-ups offered for teachers in 2 Manila schools

MANILA, Philippines—Some public-school teachers in Manila may enjoy a free pass at the Manila Doctor’s Hospital (MDH) until October 5, as the latter wraps up its Teachers’ Month celebration.

The program, launched since September 5, offers some free medical services to teachers from MDH’s adopted schools, namely, Epifanio de los Santos Elementary School (EDSES) and Justo Lukban Elementary School.

The teachers are eligible for free hearing screenings, vision screenings, cardio-pulmonary check-ups, breast examinations and gynecological check-ups.

“Providing [the] teachers with free medical services is just one way for us at MDH to express our gratitude to the teachers of our adopted schools for their dedication and hard work,” said MDH president Aniceto M. Sobrepeña, in a press statement.

As Teachers’ Month comes to a close, he urged everyone to “show our appreciation to our teachers who have made a difference in our lives.”

The program will culminate in festivities and a wellness lecture on October 5 at EDSES. An exhibit by medical trainees honoring doctors as their teachers will run at the MDH until October 7.
