19 resource persons face Senate contempt

NINETEEN resource persons, including Vice President Jejomar Binay’s alleged trusted aides, are facing contempt citation for continued refusal to appear before the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee’s hearings on corruption allegations leveled against him.

The Senate blue ribbon committee being headed by Senator Teofisto Guingona III will meet on Monday, May 18, to decide on the subcommittee’s recommendation to cite in contempt 19 resource persons “who unduly refused to appear before the subcommittee despite the valid issuance of subpoenas ad testificandum and show cause orders.”

Among the resource persons recommended to be cited for contempt were Gerry Limlingan and Eduviges “Ebeng” Baloloy — Binay’s alleged financial officer and personal assistant, respectively.

Limlingan was also tagged by former Makati Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado, as the alleged bagman and dummy of the Vice President.

Antonio L. Tiu

Tomas Lopez, president of the University of Makati, and Antonio Tiu, who allegedly owned the Batangas property, have previously appeared in the hearing.
