Dionisia Pacquiao to BIR: Why tax me? I got no job

DIONISIA Pacquiao, the mother of boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, filed a petition for review with the Court of Tax Appeals questioning the tax assessment of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Region 18.

Investigation on her possible tax liability started in 2013 at the height of the P2.2-billion tax case against her son.

Her son and his wife Jinkee also filed a petition for review with the Tax Court on July 2013.

Under the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC), if an administrative protest on the tax assessment is denied or not acted upon, it may be raised before the CTA.

Earlier, the Pacquiao matriarch said she was shocked when she was informed by her son’s secretary that the BIR is also investigating her.

She asked why her when she has no job, no income, does not own any building and is only relying on the support of her children.

Her petition was dated April 17 but received by the Tax Court last May 8. The Tax Court has yet to assign it to a division.  AC
