California man sentenced to jail after killing poodle

jail-0330BALDWIN PARK, California — A man who beat to death his miniature poodle has been sentenced to a year in jail.

Prosecutors say Jason Vaca of Baldwin Park was sentenced Tuesday after pleading no contest to a felony count of animal cruelty. He also must attend anger management and animal cruelty classes.

In addition, Vaca can’t own any animal for 10 years.

He was arrested in March of last year after Baldwin Park police answering an emergency services call found Vaca with blood on his clothes and blood in the house.
