Lapid: Grace Poe has my support in 2016

Senator Lito Lapid  on Tuesday  vowed to support  Senator Grace Poe should the latter decide to run  either  for president or  vice president in 2016.

“Syempre Fernando Poe ‘yan, ang laki ng utang na loob namin  d’yan,”  Lapid said in a rare interview at the Senate.

Actor  Fernando Poe Jr. is the late  father of  Senator Poe, who has been ranking  second in the latest surveys of possible  presidential bets in 2016.

“Kahit saan s’ya susuportahan namin s’ya (Whatever path she chooses, we will support her),”  added Lapid, who’s term in the Senate will expire  in 2016.

But Poe, who is serving her  first  six-year term  in the Senate, has yet to decide whether or not to run for a higher post in the upcoming elections.

Lapid said  detained  Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.  would  have been  the  standard-bearer of Lakas  but the  latter has  been charged with  plunder and is currently detained in connection  with the “pork  barrel” scam. Revilla is chairman of Lakas.

Also charged and detained  in connection with the scam  are Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada. IDL
