Tax court consolidates 2 cases vs Jeane Napoles
The Court of Tax Appeals has consolidated the two tax evasion cases filed against Jeane Catherine Napoles, daughter of pork barrel scam principal accused Janet Lim Napoles.
In a resolution promulgated May 4 but made public Monday, the Tax Court’s First Division granted the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) bid to consolidate the two cases.
The younger Napoles is facing two counts of violation of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC).
According to the DOJ, Jeane Catherine, 23, is liable to pay P17.888 million basic tax deficiencies broken down as follows:
– P17.461 million for the residential condominium in California for taxable year 2011, and
– P426,866.67 as co-owner of two farm lots in Pangasinan for taxable year 2012.
Napoles’ cases will be consolidated to the one pending before the third division, the same division that issued the warrant of arrest for the young Napoles for failure to attend her arraignment last April 29. The warrant was lifted, however, after the young Napoles personally appeared in court.
Her arraignment is set on May 27. AU
