Col. Rolando Bautista, commander of the 104th Army Brigade and head of Joint Task Group Basilan, told the Inquirer that they learned about the beheading of Jackri Targi late Sunday afternoon.
“We thought the person was just abducted,” Bautista said.
Bautista said the victim was walking around town when abducted by Abu Sayyaf bandits.
“We later learned that he was already beheaded,” Bautista said.
Senior Supt. Mario Buyucan, the provincial police director, Targi was on his way to one of the cellular towers when abducted in the village of Tuburan in Mohammad Ajul town.
Buyucan said Targi’s body, with his decapitated head on his chest, was found in the village of Taguime.
