The Supreme Court (SC) has granted the request of Sandiganbayan to bring Janet Lim-Napoles to court during bail hearings.

Sandiganbayan, through Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, requested permission from the high court to bring Napoles to court during bail hearings instead of the court going to the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW).

Napoles was brought to CIW after she was convicted by the Makati Court for serious illegal detention. She was sentenced of up to 40 years imprisonment.

“The request of the PJ was prompted by Mrs. Napoles’s conviction before the Regional Trial Court of Makati for Serious Illegal Detention, where she was sentenced to reclusion perpetua; as a result, Napoles was moved to the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW) to commence her service of sentence for that conviction; citing impracticality and reasons of security, the SAndiganbayan Presiding Justice requested the Supreme Court for permission to allow Napoles to be brought to the SAndiganbayan on those dates that her bail hearings would be conducted.  Finding the reasons to be well-taken, the SC has granted the request,” the high court said.
