LP vows to explain to people why Roxas should be next president

TO raise Interior Secretary  Mar Roxas’ ranking in  surveys, the Liberal Party (LP) will  explain to the  people why he should become the next president, Senate  President Franklin Drilon said on Monday.

Drilon, LP’s vice chairman, earlier said that Roxas has already expressed interest “internally” to be the party’s standard-bearer though the latter has not made any public pronouncements yet about his political plans in 2016.

Asked in a press conference at the Senate Monday if the party would still be rooting for him despite his lifeless ratings, Drilon, vice chairman of LP,  said:  “Yes, the LP as a party has its support for Secretary Roxas.”

Asked again how the party intends to lift Roxas’ poll ratings,  the Senate leader said: “The continuous explanation of the need for the next administration to  continue the reform process that has begun and has been implemented on many aspects…”

“The continuity of the policies of good governance is critical to the Liberal Party, and we will emphasize this in explaining to our people why Senator Mar should be the next president,” the Senate leader added.

Roxas was statistically tied in third place with Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte with 15 percent in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted in March this year.

Vice President Jejomar Binay remained the voters’ top choice for president with 36 percent followed by neophyte Senator Grace Poe with 31 percent. Binay has publicly declared his intention to run for president while Poe was mum  on her political plans. AC
