The Malacañang on Tuesday said it is up to the Supreme Court to investigate the alleged bribery in the Court of Appeals (CA) following the exposé of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV that two CA justices were paid P25 million each to stop Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay’s suspension.
Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. in a press briefing said that the Malacañang respects the doctrine of separation of powers.
“The government is against all forms of corruption. We should, however, consider the doctrine. As the allegation of purported bribery pertains to the judiciary, we will defer to the Supreme Court to take a look at these allegations, and for the Senate to act on the proposed resolution by Senator Trillanes,” Coloma said.
On Monday, Trillanes, citing reliable sources, accused CA Justices Jose Reyes Jr. and Francisco Acosta of receiving a total of P25 million each to stop the suspension of Binay.

Trillanes filed a resolution calling for the Senate committee on justice and human rights to investigate the alleged system of “justice for sale” at the CA and in the judiciary.
Mayor Binay had filed a libel case against the senator for his bribery accusations. RC
