Marikina cops find wanted man after he survived ambush
A suspect in a frustrated homicide case in Marikina City was arrested by the police seven hours after he was shot by an unidentified assailant on Saturday.
A wounded Dante Aton was apprehended at his house on Bonanza Street, Phase 2, in Barangay Fortune after the police verified that he was wanted in a case filed in February last year.
Marikina Police Community Precinct 5 commander Insp. Badontur Monte II said the suspect claimed that he was not hiding from the law and knew of the crime he was accused of.
The suspect told Monte for the last 14 months, he was “looking for ways to raise the money he would use to post bail.”
On Saturday, Aton had just returned home from the hospital where he was brought by his sister for treatment after he was shot in an ambush carried out by two motorcycle-riding men around 4 a.m. also on Bonanza Street. He was hit in the left hand.
Learning of the incident, the local police discovered that Aton had a standing warrant issued by Judge Alice Guitierrez of Marikina Regional Trial Court Branch 193. Jovic Yee
