An Australian man seeking to escape from charges that he sexually abused a 12-year-old girl in his country, was stopped at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3 by security personnel.

A report from the Border Monitoring Security Unit (BMSU) stationed at the airport said that 39-year-old Roy Woodward from Australia was intercepted around 6 p.m. on Tuesday by immigration officers. According to the BMSU, Woodward had just disembarked from a Cebu Pacific Air flight from Sydney when he was stopped by immigration officers because of an alarm sent out by the Canberra Interpol.

Based on the Interpol report, the Australian is about to be sentenced by a local court for the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl. Woodward remains in the custody of the BMSU while his deportation is being processed. Both the Canberra Interpol office and Australian Embassy have been informed of his arrest. Jeannette I. Andrade
