Bataan rice mill owner shot dead

PILAR, Bataan, Philippines—A businessman was shot and killed by two men in Barangay Panilao here on Wednesday, police said.

Joey Reyes, 53, a rice mill owner in Orion town and said to be a pastor of a local Christian church, was driving his Mitsubishi Montero when he was attacked by two men on a motorcycle at about 10 a.m.

Police said that Reyes, after being hit by bullets fired from a .45 cal. pistol, tried to slow down but his vehicle bumped a car parked in front of a hardware store in Barangay Panilao.

Senior Inspector Dennis Orbista, information officer of the Bataan police, said investigators are looking at a conflict or rivalry in business as a possible motive behind the attack.
