General manager Roman Buenafe told INQUIRER.net that Maria Lea Castillo, 37, experienced chest pains while waiting in line with her husband at North Avenue Station.

Buenafe said Castillo was rushed to the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City through an ambulance.

The 37-year old passenger was accompanied by her husband and MRT personnel.

Buenafe said initial findings from the hospital said Castillo had a “heart anomaly.”

The MRT official said the passenger was also discharged on Friday morning.

In recent months, the MRT has drawn sharp criticisms from its riders due to long queues at its train stations as well as its dysfunctional elevators, escalators and comfort rooms.
