Evacuee hit by sniper fire in Maguindanao

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A 24-year-old evacuee was hit by sniper fire while gathering firewood in Barangay Dapiawan in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao, around 5 p.m. Tuesday, the Moro group Suara Bangsamoro reported.

The report cannot be independently verified as of yet.

Parida Sagabay, who fled Pamalian village in Sharif Aguak, Maguindanao, because of the ongoing government offensives against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), was rushed to the government-run hospital in Shariff Aguak town, Jerome Succor Aba, Suara Bangsamoro spokesperson told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

It was not clear which side fired the shot that hit Sagabay but Aba said soldiers from the Army’s Mechanized Brigade and the 45th Infantry Battalion were in the area where Sagabay was injured.
