Quakes rock Pangasinan, Zamboanga

Zamboanga Del Norte Quake

MANILA, Philippines – Two mild quakes hit the Philippines early Monday causing no damages, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The first temblor measuring magnitude 3.2 occurred at 12:57 a.m. off Pangasinan in Luzon. Its epicenter was located 42 kilometers under the West Philippine Sea, some 43 kilometers southwest of Agno town.

At 6:25 a.m., the second quake was felt in Zamboanga del Norte.

Engineer Rommel Allan Labayog of Phivolcs Zamboanga said the magnitude 3.1 quake was registered 17 kilometers South East of Sindangan in Zamboanga Del Norte.

“It is tectonic in nature,” Labayog said.

Phivolcs said it did not expect damages and any danger of a tsunami.
