MANILA, Philippines —Ordinary motorists are not the only ones annoyed by kotong (Filipino slang for bribe) enforcers. Even a former police chief and senator is.

Former senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson turned to Twitter on Tuesday to express his disgust over some traffic enforcers who he said were “obviously negotiating for kotong” along Edsa.

“Watching traffic enforcers along Edsa Ext. apprehending motorists and obviously negotiating for ‘kotong’ makes my blood boil,” Lacson said on his Twitter account.

He did not elaborate but when asked by this reporter what he did to the traffic enforcers, the former senator said: “Kinapa ko ‘yung 5.7mm pistol ko para mag accidental firing pero naiwan ko pala sa bahay.”
