Aquino promotes, appoints 181 new prosecutors
MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino III has promoted and appointed 181 prosecutors to be designated in various parts of the country.
Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said Monday that with the release of the latest batch of prosecutors, the National Prosecution Service is strengthened to address pressing concerns.
“The DOJ still eagerly awaits the release of the other appointments that are still with the Office of the President…We thank the President for finding time to strengthen the Prosecution service,” de Lima said.
“Immediate release of the pending appointments makes the DOJ’s goal of having a zero backlog policy of its cases more achievable, and ultimately improve the administration of the criminal justice system in our country,” de Lima said.
The additional prosecutors will be deployed at the Office of the City Prosecutors (OCP) Antipolo (1), OCP-Caloocan City (11), OCP-Makati City (1), OCP-Malabon (1), OCP-Marikina City (4), OCP-Paranaque (13), OCP-Valenzuela City (1), Office of the Provincial Prosecutor (OPP)-Ilocos Sur (6), OPP-Pangasinan (4), OCP-Candon City (3), OCP- San Carlos City (1), OCP-Urdaneta City (5),OCP-Vigan City (1), OPP-Cagayan (2), OPP-Nueva Vizcaya (5), OPP-Quirino (2),

But de Lima said they are still waiting for the release of the other appointments to the NPS that are still with Malacañang.
Late last year, 122 new prosecutors were also added to the NPS which is headed by Prosecutor General Claro Arellano.
