Truck falls into Mountain Province ravine; at least 1 killed

mountain-province-mapBaguio City, Philippines– An elf truck fell into a ravine in the Mountain Province town of Bauko on Thursday night, killing a passenger and seriously injuring its driver.

The vehicle, bearing plate numbers HGR 437, plunged 300 meters down a mountain road side at Sitio Lukib, Monamun Sur village at 10 p.m. killing Tamate Lapas, said Senior Supt. Oliver Enmodias, Mt Province police director.

The driver, Joefrey Sapsap, 35, survived but was in serious condition when rescuers retrieved him.

Police have yet to determine the cause of the accident. Sapsap was driving to Bauko from Benguet’s capital town, La Trinidad.
