SWS: More Filipinos optimistic quality of life, economy will improve

MANILA, Philippines–More Filipinos are optimistic that the quality of their lives and the economy will improve in the next 12 months, the latest survey of the Social Weather Station (SWS) showed.

The survey conducted  among 1, 800 respondents from November 27 to December 1, 2014revealed that 41 percent (optimistic) of Filipinos expect the quality of their lives to improve in the next 12 months while only six percent (pessimistic) said it would be worse.

The personal net optimism score of 35 is considered “very high.”

When asked how their lives have changed in the past 12 months, 29 percent of the respondents said it has improved (gainers), while 30 percent of them said it has worsened (losers).

The SWS survey also showed that 31 percent of the respondents said they were optimistic that economy would get better in the next 12 months, while only 15 percent disagreed.

The result shows that optimism about the economy is also “very high.”

Personal optimism was “very high” for Metro Manila, balance Luzon and Mindanao, while “high” for Visayas.

Personal optimism across all socioeconomic classes stayed “very high.”
