The Quezon City Police said PO3 Juvy Jumuad shot Soque when he tried to take her handgun after the inquest proceedings at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office around 11:30 p.m. on Monday night.

Chief Insp. Rodel Marcelo, head of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said in a text message to INQUIRER.net that the handcuffed Soque had attempted to escape from his police escorts then tried to take Jumuad’s firearm.

“But when he failed to get the policewoman’s gun, the officer immediately shot him,” Marcelo said.

Soque, who was shot in the chin, was brought to East Avenue Medical Center for treatment but he did not survive.

The 29-year-old suspect is facing murder and a string of robbery and rape charges.

One of Soque’s recent victims was Korean Park Mi-kyung, whom he killed after she refused to give up her cell phone at Beanleaf Cafe in Don Antonio Heights, Barangay (village) Holy Spirit, on Feb. 9.

Before killing Park, Soque raped two female crew members of the establishment.

When Soque was presented to the media in Camp Karingal on Feb. 12, he received a punch on the head and a kick from Bautista.
