A teenager will be spending Valentine’s Day locked up after she was nabbed by the police after robbing a taxi driver of his earnings in Pasay City.

Investigation showed that the 18-year-old teenager haled a taxi driven by Elemar Halog in front of the Pasay City Hall at around 1:45 p.m. last Thursday. She asked Halog to drop her off at Edsa Crossing in Mandaluyong City.

Upon reaching Pasig Boulevard, however, the suspect, who was seated behind Halog, declared the heist while poking the victim’s side with an 11-inch improvised knife.

Police said that after divesting the driver of P550, the teenager told the victim to turn back and drop her off at the place where the driver picked her up. On their way back, they got stalled in heavy traffic, prompting the suspect to get off the cab.

That proved to be a mistake as the exact spot where she alighted was close to a police station. The cab driver immediately sought police help and responding policemen nabbed the suspect.

The teenager is currently detained at the Pasig Police station and would be charged with robbery holdup, which has a minimum jail term of six years.
