Ex-SAF chief Napeñas: I am not Purisima’s puppet

MANILA, Philippines — I am not a puppet of resigned Philippine National Police Chief Director Alan Purisima, so said relieved Special Action Force Director Getulio Napeñas when he faced the Senate on Monday.
“I’m not and I was not and I will never be a ‘bata’ of anyone,” Napeñas said when he testified at the Senate probe on the Mamasapano incident, reacting to reports that he was Purisima’s lackey.
“I’m not a ‘bata’ of Purisima,” he further said.
Napeñas headed the police operation in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last January 25 where 44 members of the SAF were killed.
