The 10th edition of the Ateneo-La Salle Golf Classic Cebu will be a tournament of firsts as it will be held outside of Cebu City for the first time. The event will instead be hosted by Club Filipino de Cebu in Danao City.

This was announced during a press conference held the other day at the Club Filipino clubhouse at the Ayala-FGU building. Also, in order to boost attendance, organizers also announced that they are opening their doors to interested golfers to compete in the guest division.

The tournament is set to tee off on Oct. 8. The usual categories are still present with classes A, B and C wherein there will be four winners each. A Skygo motorcycle is also up for grabs for the golfer who can sink a hole-in-one.

So far, the tournament has been dominated by the guys in blue as they have taken home eight of the last nine championships. In spite of the fierce rivalry of their counterparts in Manila, the members of the alumni associations of both schools here in Cebu said that things are a whole lot different here in the south.

“Even if we are fierce rivals in sports, both schools have shared values. This tournament is really more of generating camaraderie among both schools,” said La Salle Alumni Association president Javy Quintos.
