Trillanes: SAF morale low but no ouster plot vs Aquino
MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III has nothing to worry for now even if the morale of the Special Action Force (SAF) was low after the death of its 44 members in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last January 25, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said on Wednesday.
“Wala pa naman pero mababa ang morale sa SAF ngayon,” Trillanes, a former Navy officer, said in a text message when asked if he heard of any unrest in the military.
“Sa AFP okay pa naman ang morale based on feedback on the ground,” he said.
Asked again if Aquino had nothing to worry, the senator said: “For now, yes.”
“But I think emotions are running high at this point so any direct intervention or message by the President should be calibrated. How he deals with the MILF and the BBL would be crucial,” Trillanes added.
MILF is the Moro Islamic Liberation Front while the BBL he was referring to was the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law being deliberated in Congress.
