MANILA, Philippines–The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against the use of several unregistered products, mostly medicated patches and creams, being sold in the market.
In an advisory, the FDA identified some of these as Cesil Cream, Mentholatum Lotion, Cap Style Green Enema, Madecassol Ointment, Medicated Patch, Lavenda Cream, Bumooly-S Solution and all products made by Donghwa Pharm and Dong-A Pharm.
“All local government units and law-enforcement agencies are requested to ensure that these products are not sold or offered for sale in their localities or area of jurisdiction,” FDA Officer in Charge Nicolas Lutero III said in an order.
Lutero also ordered field FDA regulation officers to seize these products after some of these were found in various stores on Friendship Highway in Angeles City.
“Please note that product evaluation and registration is a measure that the government undertakes to ensure the safety and efficacy of health [goods],” he said.
At the same time, he advised consumers to always purchase their medications only from establishments licensed by the FDA to ensure their safety and efficacy.
He also reminded the public to look for the FDA registration number on product labels.
